Many people believe the automobile was first invented in Germany. However, it’s America’s first car, an 1867 self-propelled vehicle, that holds the title of being the world’s first. The vehicle was designed by George Selden of Rochester, New York, for horseless carriage, but it wasn’t until after his patent expired that automobiles became widely available.
The subsequent significant discovery regarding the automobile was an invention called a carburettor. This device is responsible for regulating airflow to the engine fuel mixture. After this invention was perfected, cars were able to run at much faster speeds and with less maintenance than ever before.
